Global History and Geography I

 Course Outline:

        Global History and Geography I is the first part of a two year course that will end with a New York State Regents Examination in 10th grade. Our journey will begin in about 5000 B.C. studying some of the world’s most important ancient civilizations, and culminating with a look at the world’s First Global Age (1750). During this ride we will examine major themes and concepts such as, belief systems, turning points, cultures, physical geography, political and economic systems, etc...

Exams, Quizzes, and Makeup’s:

By ninth grade all students should understand that academic honesty and proper test-taking procedures should be adhered to at all times. Cheating and dishonesty will not be tolerated at all. A student with an excused absence will be permitted to take a makeup exam or quiz within one week of the original test date. (Test may or may not be in essay form). Failure to schedule a makeup test with me within the above stated time period will be an automatic 0 grade.

Homework/Classwork:

Expect homework to be given on a regular basis (Usually 10-15 written assignments per quarter). If reading homework is assigned it is essential for you to make sure that you complete these tasks. History tells a story if you miss something you may be lost.Readingquizzes will be given to ensure it is being done. At home research of topics for class discussion will be a regular practice in this class room. Homework will not be accepted late, unless you were absent on the day it is assigned.

Quarterly Grading:

Tests = 50 % Quizzes= 30 % Class work and Homework = 20%
