Strategies for Studying Word Lists

  • Practice word list in small units/chunks (group words according to their similarities-initial consonants, # of letters in the words, and similar meaning)
  • Study the shape or configuration of the words by writing the word and outlining it with black crayon
  • With each word, do the look(study the word, pronounce it, spell it out loud), cover(attempt to spell it orally), and write(traces on the table letter by letter, write on paper the word)
